Bright Star Lighting Products is now releasing a DVD, The Lighthawk™ Experience

2006-03-27 — (Hanover Township, PA) - Anyone can tell you that they make the world's best fire lantern, but ultimately the only ones who can make that call with authority are the men and women who use it. Bright Star Lighting Products is now releasing a DVD, The Lighthawk Experience, featuring candid reactions of Philadelphia area firefighters after testing the Lighthawk™ fire lantern.

In February, Bright Star gave sixteen firefighters a Lighthawk fire lantern and asked them to use and abuse it in a simulated smoke-filled training building. They asked them to test its form, function and features against any other lantern they had previously used. The DVD chronicles this experience; allowing other firefighters to see the Lighthawk in action and hear what their colleagues have to say about their first hand Lighthawk experience.

Matt Malcolm, director of sales and marketing for Bright Star Lighting Products said, "We know this is a great product, but there is no stronger selling motivation than word of mouth - this video allows firefighters to experience the Lighthawk along with these firefighters. We wanted real firefighters to sell it, not us." Reactions captured on the video were positive with firefighters saying, "It's the lightest light out there", "There's no comparison" and, "I would definitely recommend it."

The Lighthawk was released in 2005 and was created after Bright Star received valuable input from leading public safety units. "We heard their need for a lightweight, high-performance lantern equipped with extremely visible taillights that could provide enough runtime for an entire shift," said Malcolm. From that input came the Lighthawk- a solutions-based tool that meets the needs of a wide range of firefighters and other public safety professionals.

The Lighthawk is the first lantern ever powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery - making it the lightest fire lantern available today. At just 1.9 lbs it is up to 33% lighter than popular competitive brands, but Malcolm points out that it isn't a lightweight when it comes to performance, safety and durability.

The DVD will be inserted and distributed in April's issue of Fire Engineering. It will also be seen and distributed at various trade shows with its debut at FDIC at the end of April.
